Singing Lessons

and Performance Coaching

Let me help you become the performer you want to be, and sing with your best voice

I teach from my home studio near Exmouth and Exeter, Devon. My studio is fully equipped with an electric piano, lots of music, and plenty of space to allow us to work together.

With almost 20 years teaching experience privately and in schools, I teach to help everyone regardless of age or experience to improve their technique and performance.

I have experience with all levels from those who wish to sing for fun and improve their choral singing, up to students entering the Musical Theatre profession and professional singers regularly performing.

I work with pupils to:

  • teach them about their voice

  • improve technique

  • improve range

  • make storytelling and interpretation at the heart of the performance

  • make singing feel easy and instinctive

  • improve performance confidence

  • help guide their own compositions when working with singer-songwriters

  • prepare for exams. My pupils have entered and had success in all school exams and ABRSM up to diploma level.

We work on a range of repertoire that plays to both the strengths of that pupil, and challenges them with new skills that will help develop their voice and their performance skills. This may include different styles, eras of music, or languages.

Having worked as a performer, I am able to assist and guide performers to act and embody their music, making their performance natural to them. We work on the psychology of performance, confidence, interpretation, and individual performance presentation.

I recommend my students have regular singing lessons, or you can choose to book a one-off 1 hour coaching to prepare you for your performance - whether for an exam or performance.

I am constantly training and learning to further my own skills and understanding, to stay up-to-date with recent scientific findings and modern teaching approaches.

This means I can further support my students, so that I may point them in the direction of something they might benefit from.

Recent courses and talks attended have included Physical Practice, Yoga, Singing for Health, Breathing techniques, Acoustics and anatomy, Laryngeal Massage, Positive mindset for performers, and Alexander Technique for the voice.

Member of the Independent Society of Musicians, which includes Public Liability Insurance.

I have received training in Safeguarding (most recently online training in Safeguarding and child protection, April 2023) and have worked with pupils with different learning needs who learn in different ways.

I have an up-to-date DBS for my work in schools, please let me know if you wish to see the certificate.

Please get in touch if you wish to make enquiries or to discuss your individual needs.
